the basic message # E188

In writing the weekly message, I try really hard to convey what I believe God wants said.  I recently wrote a message about the significance of 9/11, but some readers couldn’t seem to understand, so I thought I’d try again.  In the process, a quiet message from God said, “John, how about letting me do the talking this time.”  Yes, LORD.

Jeremiah 22:7

“I will send destroyers against you, each man with his weapons, and they will cut up your fine cedar beams and throw them into the fire.”

Jeremiah 23:31

“Yes,” declares the LORD, “I am against the prophets who wag their own tongues and yet declare, ‘The LORD declares.’”

Jeremiah 26:8

But as soon as Jeremiah finished telling all the people everything the LORD had commanded him to say, the priests, the prophets and all the people seized him and said, “You must die.”

Jeremiah 29:12-13

Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.  You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

Jeremiah 34:18

The men who have violated my covenant and have not fulfilled the terms of the covenant they made before me, I will treat like the calf they cut in two and then walked between its pieces.

Jeremiah 37:10

“Even if you were to defeat the entire Babylonian army that is attacking you and only wounded men were left in their tents, they would come out and burn this city down.”

Jeremiah 1:16

I will pronounce my judgments on my people because of their wickedness in forsaking me, in burning incense to other gods and in worshipping what their hands have made.

Jeremiah 2:5

This is what the LORD says: “What fault did your fathers find in me, that they strayed so far from me?   The followed worthless idols and became worthless themselves.

Jeremiah 2:11

Has a nation ever changed its gods?  (Yet they are not gods at all.)  But my people have exchanged their Glory for worthless idols.

Jeremiah 2:27

They say to wood, ‘You are my father.’ And to stone, ‘You gave me birth.’  They have turned their backs to me and not their faces; yet when they are in trouble, they say, ‘Come and save us!’

Jeremiah 5:31

The prophets prophecy lies, the priests rule by their own authority, and my people love it this way.  But what will you do in the end?

Jeremiah 6:10

To whom can I speak and give warning?  Who will listen to me?  Their ears are closed so they cannot hear.  The word of the LORD is offensive to them; they find no pleasure in it.

Jeremiah 7:28

Therefore say to them, ‘This is the nation that has not obeyed the LORD its God or responded to correction.   Truth has perished; it has vanished from their lips.’

Jeremiah 10:21

The shepherds are senseless and do not inquire of the LORD; so they do not prosper and all their flock is scattered.

Jeremiah 11:7-8

From the time I brought your forefathers up from Egypt until today, I warned them again and again, saying, “Obey me.”  But they did not listen or pay attention; instead, they followed the stubbornness of their evil hearts.   So I brought on them all the curses of the covenant I had commanded them to follow but that they did not keep.’”

Jeremiah 15:7

I will winnow them with a winnowing fork at the city gates of the land.  I will bring bereavement and destruction on my people, for they have not changed their ways.

Jeremiah 18:7-8

If at any time I announce that a nation or kingdom is to be uprooted, torn down and destroyed, and if that nation I warned repents of its evil, then I will relent and not inflict on it the disaster I had planned.
